#26 Kings Canyon National Park, CA

50 years after Sequoia National Park was established (1890), King's Canyon National Park was formed and ever since the World War II they have been jointly administerd. Quite honestly, with the signs down being repaired, you can't tell when you leave one park and enter the other. So I'm not going to bore you with more "big tree" facts. King's Canyon does have a beautiful canyon formed by glaciers. I have backpacked this canyon many years ago and can heartily endorse it as a lovely place to explore, if you are so inclined.

One of the trees that has been down for a long time in the General Grant Grove is still big and impressive. In the old days when they were still logging in the area people lived in it!

If you visit Sequoia, make sure to take a little time and visit King's Canyon as well. Just remember to listen carefully to the trees so you don't get clobbered by a falling branch!
